CATTLE SALE-Yarding 1066 Change 153
The number of cattle yarded was up slightly. There was a small penning of vealers while yearlings were well supplied. There was a fair amount of grown cattle available. The quality of the young cattle was mixed with increased numbers of unfinished cattle offered. There were some good runs of well-bred cattle suitable for feeders and backgrounders. The market varied with vealer heifers to slaughter loosing up to 12c/kg. Trade yearlings met strong competition, with trade yearling steers selling firm and heifers were 2c to 3c/kg dearer. Feeder and restocker yearling steers sold firm to slightly dearer, while feeder and restocker heifers made similar gains. The yarding of export cattle consisted of a fair penning of grown steers and heifers but less cows. Quality was mixed with bullocks and steers selling 3c to 6c/kg cheaper. Heifers were firm to slightly easier, while the cow market was down by 2c to 5c/kg.
