Cattle– 1130
Inverell numbers increased to 1,130 mostly good quality cattle, up 503. Young cattle and cows made up the bulk, with cows in the majority. Only three processors operated. Most young cattle sold to a cheaper trend , both to restockers and feeders. Weaners selling to restock interests saw cheaper trends of 11c to 29c/kg. Light steers to restockers saw reductions of 22c/kg, with the feeder drafts up to 20c/kg back. The medium weight steers sold from 311c to 430c/kg. Light heifers to feed sold to cheaper trends of 12c/kg. The medium weights, however, saw a dearer trend of 11c/kg. Grown steers made to 349c, while the heifer portion saw a cheaper trend of 11c/kg. Cows saw cheaper trends throughout with limited competition from the processors present. Light and medium weight cows were 4c to 20c back, while the heavy weight cows saw reductions of 25c/kg. Restocker operator competition was subdued.

There were 300 lambs and 678 grown sheep, to total 978, 600 less than two weeks ago. Sheep and lamb quality lifted to see a generally dearer market for all categories. All the regular buyers attended for what was another sale with limited numbers for all grades. Light trade lambs saw dearer trends, as did the trade lambs, which showed a significant rise in trends. Medium lambs sold from $170 to $200, heavy lambs also selling to dearer trends, with a lift in quality, selling from $231 to $265/head. Hoggets sold to $214/head. Grown sheep sold to dearer trends with crossbred ewes to $240 and Dorpers to $160/head. Medium weight ewes made from $124 to $240/head. A pen of heavy wethers weighing 67kg, sold to $224/head.
