Cattle– 1380

Inverell numbers reduced slightly, with cows down by half and a small increase in young cattle. This category lifted in quality and saw a generally firm to dearer trends throughout. Strong competition saw restocker cows sent to the Central West of NSW, along with drafts of light, young cattle to the Victorian Border. Victorian processors also sought heavy cows for slaughter. Queensland feeder interests were also active as they have been for the last several weeks. Weaner steers saw firm trends, while the heifer portion sold to dearer trends of 6c/kg. Light yearling steers to feed saw dearer trends of 13c/kg. The medium weight drafts also experienced rising trends of 7c and the heavy drafts 17c/kg better. Victorian competition caused the better quality, light end young cattle to sell from 120c to 148c/kg. Medium weight heifers to the trade saw rises of 11c/kg. Grown heifers experienced significant rises to the trade, however, heavy feeders saw cheaper trends of 6c/kg. Cows to feed and restock saw rises of 20c, while the medium weights to kill were up 11c/kg. Heavy 3 and 4 score cows saw dearer trends of 20c/kg. Live export competition returned to see rises of 15c/kg in the heavy bull market .
