Cattle– 920
The number of cattle yarded was similar to last week for a total of 920 head. Yearlings and cows were well supplied, and there was a fair penning of grown steers and heifers. The yarding of young cattle consisted of yearlings with both steers and heifers well represented. Quality was good with several runs of well bred and well finished cattle through the sale, and there was a larger percentage of medium and heavy weights offered. The market was strong with feeder yearling steers holding firm selling from 578c to 666c for the medium weights, while there was mainly heavy weight feeder steers offered, and they averaged around 570c/kg. Feeder heifers sold firm to slightly dearer ranging from 439c to 578c, restockers to 674c/kg. The yarding of export cattle consisted mainly of cows, although there was a fair run of grown steers and heifers. A export buyer re entered the market this week helping to push prices up, compared to last weeks sale. As a result grown steers were 3c dearer toping at 455c, and feeders to 522c/kg. Grown heifers sold to a top of 448c/kg. The cow market improved by 4c to 5c, there was mainly heavy weight cows offered with most 4 scores selling from 378c to 399.2c/kg. Heavy weight bulls also sold to a dearer market for a top price of 376c/kg.
