Cattle– 1357

Inverell agents yarded 1,357 head, which was an increase of 221. Yearlings made up a large percentage of the yarding, while grown cattle were in fair numbers. The yarding of young cattle consisted of several runs of well finished, and well bred steers and heifers, that were suitable for feeder and background buyers. Most of the cattle were in the medium to heavy weight ranges. There was a good line up of buyers in attendance, however some were lacking orders and selective in there purchases resulting in an easing in the market. The few restocker weaner steers sold to a top of 528c/kg. Yearling steers to feed were generally 15c to 18c cheaper, medium weights averaged 437c, toping at 479c/kg. Heavy feeder steers ranged from 360c to 456c/kg. Medium weight feeder heifers sold to a cheaper trend depending on weight and breed ranging from 380c to 445c, however heavy feeder heifers were slightly dearer selling from 390c to 415c/kg. The yarding of export cattle consisted of a fair penning of grown steers and heifers, while there was not the number of cows this week. Bullocks and steers were slightly dearer toping at 368c, while heifers sold to 355c/kg. The cow market held fully firm with medium weights selling from 273c to 285c, and heavy weight cows toped at 299c/kg. The very good penning of heavy weight bulls toped at 287c/kg.
