Cattle– 715

Numbers were similar with many smaller lot sizes through the young cattle. Included in the offering were plainer types of crossbred cattle. There were not many cows penned with the regular buyers operating. Feedlotters were competitive in their purchasers, as were restockers through the weaner drafts. Steer weaners showed dearer trends as much as 45c/kg on average. Heifers sold in a similar fashion to be up to 29c/kg better. Steers in the feeder grades saw rises of 6c to 19c/kg. The heifer portion was also dearer with the heavy drafts selling to a firm market. Trade heifers sold to dearer trends through all weight grades. Heavy grown steers to process sold to dearer trends to be up to 14c/kg better for drafts over 600kg. Heavy grown heifers also sold to dearer trends. Medium weight cows were dearer selling to 20c/kg better. Heavy weight cows were solid in demand, although the very heavy cows saw a slight price correction to ease by 3c/kg. Bulls sold on a high note to top at 358c/kg for a high yielding Euro bull.
