Market Report 27 July 2021

27th Jul 2021

Cattle– 589

There was a slight increase to numbers offered, which included drafts of plainer quality yearling heifers, these having an effect on averages of some of the feeder results. Conversely there was a limited offering of well presented young steers and heifers. Cows were very much in the minority. Not all exporters were present, and other regular buyers were operating with softer demand for the secondary cattle. Steer weaners sold to slightly cheaper trends even with the better bred types selling to 640c/kg to restocker competition. Heifers sold to firm trends. Medium weight steers to feed sold to a downward trend with a slip in quality through some drafts. Heavy feeder steers on the other hand saw firm trends prevail. A well presented line of light weight yearling heifers went back to the paddock at 550c/kg. Both medium and heavy weight heifers to feed sold to a cheaper market, these incorporating lines of plainer quality heifers through the drafts. Well finished heavy yearling heifers to processors sold up to 30c/kg better. Limited heavy grown steers to processors rose 16c/kg. The grown heifer portion also up to 16c/kg better. Limited numbers of heavy weight cows sold to modest a rise of 8c/kg. The medium weight cows were slightly cheaper. Heavy weight bulls sold to a dearer trend of 13c/kg.
