Cattle– 721
There was a few more cattle yarded this week for a total of 721 head with most classes increasing in number. The yarding of young cattle consisted of a few pens of vealer steers and heifers, while there was a good offering of yearling steers and heifers suitable for backgrounders and feeders. Quality was good with several runs of well-bred cattle throughout the sale. There was a good contingent of buyers competing which resulted in a strong market. Local restockers paid up to 703c/kg for vealer steers. Feeder cattle sold firm to 7c dearer, with medium weight feeder steers selling to 559c to average 505c, and heavy feeder steers selling to a top of 500c to average 455c/kg. Medium weight feeder heifers sold from 436c to 536c and heavy feeder heifers averaged 440c/kg. The yarding of export cattle consisted of several pens of grown steers and heifers and a good supply of cows, with several pens of well finished score 3 and 4 medium and heavy weight cows sold. The market improved by 8c to 10c with medium weight cows averaging 335c and heavy cows selling to a top price of 352c/kg. The good offering of bulls sold to a top of 349c/kg.

Yarding– 3845 Lambs– 2050 Sheep– 1795
There was a increased yarding of 3,845 sheep, of which there was 2,050 lambs. The yarding of lambs was of good quality with a large percentage being crop finished or supplementary fed. There was a fair number of trade lambs, however heavy and extra heavy lambs were in larger numbers. Competition was strong with all the usual buyers operating which saw a dearer market for all lamb classes. Trade lambs sold to a top of $227, while heavy lambs toped at $252 and extra heavy lambs over 30kg sold to a top price of $292/head. The yarding of mutton consisted of a good supply of both ewes and wethers, with some caring a good skin and in score 3 condition. The market was strong with ewes selling to a top of $212 and wethers to $200/head.
