Market Report 9 August 2022
CATTLE- 306 Head
There was a reduced yarding of 306 head consisting mainly of young cattle and cows. The yarding of young cattle consisted of increased numbers of weaner steers and heifers and there was a few more light yearlings through the sale compared to last weeks sale. Quality was mixed with some well bred cattle offered, however there was a fair number of cross bred cattle. The market was stronger with restocker weaner steers selling 60c dearer ranging from 424c to 636c/KG while restocker weaner heifers were 20c dearer selling from 396c to 526c/kg. Feeder cattle held firm with feeder and restocker yearling steers selling from 440c to 548c and yearling heifers sold from 400c to 480c/kg. The yarding of export cattle consisted mainly of cows and an odd grown heifer. Grown heifers sold to 398c/kg. There was a good supply of cows with several pens of well finished heavy cows. The highlight of the sale was a extra buyer entering the market on selected pens of heavy cows which resulted in prices being pushed up significantly compared to the sale last week for some pens. Heavy cows ranged from 292c to 390c and 3 score cows averaged 305c/kg. Heavy bulls were 30c dearer toping at 325c/kg.
