Cattle– 641
Storms through out the North saw numbers reduced by 381 for a total of 641 head of cattle. The yarding consisted of a large percentage of yearling cattle, while cows dominated the grown cattle section. The penning of young cattle consisted of a good supply of medium and heavy yearling steers and heifers that were mainly from local areas. The market was generally cheaper, however there was a consignment of light steers and heifers from the West that were keenly sought after and sold at recent strong prices. Overall the market was easier with light feeder steers selling 2c cheaper to average 426c, however heavier feeder steers were up to 20c cheaper in places ranging from 360c to 445c/kg. Feeder and restocker yearling heifers varied in prices depending on weight and breed, ranging from 385c to 487c/kg. The yarding of export cattle consisted of a fair penning of cows, while there was a small offering of grown steers and heifers. Grown steers sold to a top of 355c, and heifers sold to 366c/kg. The cow market saw heavy cows hold firm toping at 295c/kg.
