Cattle– 1005

Inverell increased by 500 head to offer 1005 cattle with young cattle dominating although cow numbers also increased. The regular buyers attended to a much dearer market although not all exporters competed through the cow sale.  Weaner steers saw a considerable rise of 44c/kg with heifers following suite to be 15c/kg better and selling to 231c/kg and both categories to restocker interest. Light yearling steers to feed posted significantly dearer trends up 67c/kg while the feeder drafts lifted 39c/kg and topped at 296c/kg. Medium weight feeders were 19c/kg better and sold to 240c/kg. Yearling heifers were dearer in the main although a quality lapse through some lighter drafts resulted in cheaper trends for that category. Light restocker heifers attracted rises of 24c/kg the feeder portion also dearer with a rise of 24c/kg. Medium feeders were 8c/kg better selling to 240c/kg and trade heifers made 220c/kg.  Grown heifers to process 205c to 218c/kg. Restocker cows 110c to 210c/kg. Medium weight cows were 11c/kg dearer. Heavy cows resulted in a rise of 18c/kg and sold to 208c/kg.
