Cattle–  1340

Inverell  penned 1340 mixed cattle reducing by 356 head. Regular buyers attended to a mixed market resulting in weaner steers dearer and the heifers to a cheaper trend. Yearling cattle sold to mixed trends and cows slightly cheaper.  Weaner steers to restockers  were 15c/kg better while the heifer portion was cheaper to backgrounders to slip 18c/kg. Plainer types through the lightweight yearling steers to restockers reduced the impetus of that category and resulted in a loss of 28c/kg. Heavy  yearling steers in excess of 480kg liveweight sold to 308c/kg and a rise of 25c/kg. Light yearling heifers to restockers were back 9c/kg to sell 200 to 226c/kg. Medium weight heifers to feed on also cheaper back 20c/kg. Heavy feeder heifers saw a different story with that category selling to dearer trends to top at 288c/kg.   Heavy grown steers were cheaper with less numbers while the heifer portion dearer 210 to 214c/kg. Heavy cows were in the majority with three score cows firm to slightly cheaper 186c to 208c/kg. Similar trends for the four score drafts selling 200 to 218c/kg.  It was a large bull offering with the best of the heavy bulls to sell at 254c/kg.
