Cattle– 890

Inverell numbers reduced by 384 head to pen 890 mixed cattle in a generally dearer market. Regular exporters feeders and backgrounders in strong competition.  Steer weaners were in strong demand to 30/kg dearer and the heifer drafts were 20c to 40c/kg better with both categories to restockers. Light feeder steers were 30c/kg better to average 238c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers sold to firm trends. There was a reduction of 12c/kg for feeder steers over 400kgs. Light heifers to restockers saw a reduction of 15c/kg mostly to a quality correction. Similar quality reductions for medium weight heifers to restockers resulted in a minus trend of 43/kg. Processors drafts were mixed with the better types 138c to 186c/kg.  Cows resulted in dearer trends. Cows back to the paddock 10c/kg dearer and medium cows to process 110c to 130c/kg. Three score cows were up to 34c/kg better and the prime heavy types made 160c to 188c/kg and 19c/kg dearer.
