Cattle - 1852
Inverell penned 1852 mixed cattle a reduction of 263 head. The regular buyers attended and operated to a dearer market with a noticeable increase in weight through the heavy cows. Feeders and backgrounders competing strongly through the yearling categories. Weaner steers under 200kgs significantly dearer 340c to 546c/kg with those gains flowing through to similar heifer drafts 316c to 434c/kg all to background. There was a fall for light yearling steers for backgrounding 390c to 504c/kg a lack of quality through some drafts. Conversely similar weight feeders were dearer 350c to 484c/kg. Medium weight backgrounders were dearer 410c to 510c/kg the feeder drafts gaining 7c/kg 370c to 488c/kg. Heavy yearlings to process sold to a dearer result 428c to 450c/kg. Light yearling heifers to background were slightly dearer 394c to 418c/kg. Medium feeders lifted 12c/kg 360c to 437c/kg. Feeder heifers to 480kgs gained 12c/kg with heavier drafts over 480kgs firm 422c to 426c/kg. Heavy processors were cheaper 370c to 420c/kg. Limited grown steers cheaper to process 420c to 450c/kg the heifers 342c to 390c/kg. Medium cows were cheaper 286c to 338c/kg. The balance of the cow categories dearer with three and four score cows 345c to 387c/kg. Heavy bulls up to 6c/kg better 303c to 411c/kg. Yearling bulls to feed 366c to 400c/kg.

Yarding – 4528 Lambs – 3000 Sheep - 1528
Inverell penned 3000 lambs and 1528 grown sheep for the first sale for a month the postponement due to very hot conditions over that time. An extra buyer for medium and heavy lambs resulted in a very dear market for those categories topping at $440/head for four score heavy lambs. Grown sheep were also dearer. Limited young lambs sold $192 to $272/head to process. Trade lambs $188/head. Trade Dorpers much dearer selling to $236/head. Dorpers to 24kgs cwt significantly dearer $210 to $302/head. Crossbreds to 30kgs cwt lifted $23/head $246 to $370/head. Dearer trends for lambs over 30kgs cwt with Dorpers selling $310 to $368/head and crossbreds $380 to $440/head. Crossbred hoggets $218 to $228/head. Medium Dorper ewes dearer selling to $180/head. First cross ewes $190 to $260/head and heavy Merino ewes considerably dearer $198 to $284/head. Merino wethers $190 to $200/head and crossbred wethers $224 to $313/head. Meat rams $120 to $130/head.
