Cattle- 3407

Inverell penned 3407 mixed cattle a decrease of 773 head and a marked decline in cow numbers to 1500 head. Trends varied to result in a positive outcome for the better bred young cattle while negative trends through plainer categories saw that trend cheaper. There was strong competition for the light cows to the paddock  but trends were subdued for the most part. The regular buyers attended and operated.  Weaner steers were dearer 270c to 342c/kg the heifer drafts also dearer 210c to 314c/kg both grades to background competition. Yearling steers to 280kgs much dearer 276c to 348c/kg to the paddock and feeder comparisons sold 300c to 426c/kg. Medium feeders slipped 16c/kg 350c to 460c/kg conversely the feeders to 480kgs were dearer 454c to 460c/kg.   Light heifers to background 238c to 344c/kg and heifers to 330kgs gained slightly398c to 408c/kg. Medium heifers to feed on gained 12c/kg 370c to 418c/kg. Heavy heifers to process slipped 3c/kg 355c to 370c/kg. Grown heifers to feed were dearer 272c to 416c/kg processors to 278c/kg. Light cows to the paddock 90c to 260c/kg and medium cows to process 236c to 284c/kg. Prime heavy cows to 12c/kg cheaper 286c to 320c/kg. Heavy bulls slipped 15c/kg 311c to 388c/kg.
