Cattle - 608

Only 608 cattle penned in Inverell this week 692 less than the last sale. It was a mixed yarding with larger numbers of bulls penned and only 128 cows on offer along with several pens of quality yearling steers and heifers to suit the feeder and restocker buyers. All the regular buyers attended and competed strongly lifting prices across all classes. Yearling steers in the 200-280kg range to restockers gained 24c and sold from 470c to 614c/kg. Yearling steers over 280kg to background and feed sold from 484c to 580c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold 464c to 594c/kg up by 46c. Heavy yearling steers to feed sold from 450c to 546c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to background sold from 390c to 490c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed gained 50c and sold from 422c to 490c/kg. Heavy yearling heifers to processors sold to 485c/kg. A handful of grown steers to processors sold to 470c/kg. Light weight plain conditioned cows to restockers sold from 300c to 380c/kg. Heavy score 2 cows to processors sold from 320c to 360c/kg. Good heavy cows lifted by 11c and sold from 371c to 388c/kg. Light weight bulls to restockers sold from 390c to 492c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors dearer selling from 338c to 418c/kg. Cows and calves topped at $2000/unit.

Yarding – 3016 Lambs – 1823 Sheep - 1193

Inverell agents penned 1,823 lambs and 1,193 grown sheep. All the regular buyers attended and competed strongly  which resulted in all lambs selling to dearer trends. All mutton keenly sought after by processors and sold to improved rates. Young lambs to restockers sold from $130 to $138/head. Older lambs in the 18-22kg range to restockers sold from $200 to $236/head. Trade weight lambs to processors sold from $230 to $296/head. Lambs in the 26-30kg range to processors sold from$252 to $340 with heavy lambs topping at $400/head. Hoggets to processors sold from $170 to $231/head. Light weight merino ewes to restockers sold $157 with those to processors at $153 to $170/head. Heavy dorper ewes to processors sold from $230 to $246 with the crossbred ewes at $215 to $280/head. Merino wethers to restockers sold to $124/head. Heavy wethers to processors sold from $260 to $274/head. Meat rams sold to $120/head.
