Cattle - 962
Inverell penned 962 mixed cattle similar to last sale. It was a plainer offering showing Winter conditions with quite a few cattle including a large draft of heavy cows being grain assisted. The regular buyers attended and operated to varying trends the better bred and finished product selling to a dearer trend. Light weaner steers to background gained 9c/kg 500c to 604c/kg similar heifers lifted 12c/kg 458c to 510c/kg. Light yearling steers to background much cheaper with plainer quality a factor 370c to 542c/kg. Similar feeders gained slightly 450c to 585c/kg. Medium and heavy feeders cheaper. Steers over 480kgs to process much dearer 416c to 460c/kg. Light yearling heifers to background up to 32c/kg dearer 342c to 528c/kg. Medium feeders considerably dearer 440c to 567c/kg. Grown heifers to feed much cheaper 347c to 484c/kg. There were limited grown steers to quote. Cows were dearer for the most part. Prime heavy cows 381c to 410c/kg. Two and three score cows 340c to 404c/kg restocker cows to the paddock 286c to 340c/kg. Heavy bulls lost 8c/kg 374c to 416c/kg and yearling bulls to feed 350c to 402c/kg.

Yarding – 1920 Lambs – 1335 Sheep - 585
Inverell penned 1635 sheep and lambs as a total with a minimum offering of grown sheep. It was a very good yarding of heavy lambs with a top price of $422/head for an estimated cwt of 34kgs. All buyers attended to compete in a much dearer market for lambs with grown sheep trends varying depending on quality and weight in that category. Trade crossbred lambs $200 to $210.head and Merinos $216 to $240/head. Heavy trade lambs to $15/head dearer $240 to $310/head. Similar Dorpers were cheaper $255 to $270/head. Heavy Dorpers dearer $274 to $320/head. Lambs to 30kgs cwt sold 292 to $370/head and lambs over 30kgs cwt $360 to $422/head. Ram lambs to $220/head. Trade Merino ewes $180 to $188/head. Heavy Dorper ewes $220 to $326/head and crossbreds $250 to $280/head. Meat rams $142 to $196/head.
