Cattle - 1024
Numbers were well down for a yarding of 1,024 head, consisting mainly of yearlings, a few pens of weaners and a smaller penning of cows. Quality was fairly good with several runs of well bred and well finished cattle through the yarding. The market was stronger for most classes of cattle with restocker weaner steers selling to a top of 590c, while restocker weaner heifers toped at 438c/kg. Background and restocker yearling steers sold to 539c to average 494c/kg. A large percentage of feeder cattle were off crop and well presented. Feeder steers were 10c dearer selling from 480c to 502c, while feeder heifers gained 10c to 20c depending on weight and breed, selling from 428c to 488c/kg. There was only a few grown steers, processors paid from 412c to 444c, and the feeder steers sold to 476c/kg. Grown heifers toped at 415c/kg. The cow market improved by 5c to 10c with 3 scores averaging 357c and heavy cows ranged from 365c to 395c/kg. Heavy bulls reached a top price of 366c/kg.

Sheep
Yarding – 4558 Lambs – 3030 Sheep - 1528
There was a heavier yarding of sheep with increased numbers in both lambs and mutton. Quality was good with large numbers of lambs off crop or supplementary fed. There was also increase numbers of Dorper lambs and mutton offered. The market could not maintain the prices of two weeks ago with all classes of lambs selling on an easier market. Light trade lambs sold from $148 to $172, while heavy trade weights ranged from $218 to $230/head. Heavy and extra heavy lambs sold from $240 to $395, compared to a top price of $420/head the previous sale. Dorper lambs sold to $340/head. Hoggets toped at $286/head. The yarding of mutton consisted of several pens of well finished sheep, with both Wethers and ewes well represented. The market was stronger through out the sale with Wethers selling from $140 to $258, while ewes ranged from $160 to $292/head. Dorper ewes reached a top price of $280/head.
