Cattle - 1822

The continuing dry conditions lifted numbers by 412 head to 1,822 at Inverell. All the regular processors and feeder buyers attended along with several restockers. Light weight yearling steers and heifers struggled to maintain last weeks rates however all feeder lines sold to firm prices as did the heavy heifers and cows to processors.  Yearling steers in the 200-280kg range to restockers sold from 420c to 544c/kg. Yearling steers over 280kg to background sold from 530c to 552c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold from 430c to 562c/kg. Heavy yearling steers to feed sold from 400c to 526c/kg. Yearling heifers in the 200-280kg range to restockers sold from 380c to 452c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed sold from 430c to 496c/kg. Heavy yearling heifers to processors sold from 388c to 450c/kg.   Bullocks to processors sold from 390c to 434c/kg. Grown heifers to processors sold from 394c to 444c/kg. Light weight cows to processors sold from 307c to 350c/kg. Heavy score 2 cows sold from 310c to 356c with the best cows to processors at 358c to 390c/kg. Heavy meat bulls sold from 342c to 380c/kg.

Yarding – 3000 Lambs – 1776 Sheep - 1224

Inverell agents penned 1,776 well finished lambs and 1,224 grown sheep. With the absence of one major processor prices for all heavy lambs and mutton could not maintain the rates of the sale two weeks ago however lambs to suit the trade market sold to strong competition.  Young lambs in the 10-12kg range to restockers sold from $50 to $67/head. Young lambs in the 16-18kg range to processors sold from $97 to $150 with the heavy young lambs topping at $284/head. Older lambs in the 18-22kg range to processors sold from $130 to $170/head. Lambs in the 24-26kg range sold from $182 to $240/head. Lambs to processors sold from $240 to $300 with the best heavy lambs at $350/head.   Hoggets to processors sold from $160 to $230/head. Light weight ewes to processors sold from $130 to $152 with the heavy ewes topping at $250/head. Merino wethers to processors sold from $185 to $230/head. Crossbred wethers to processors sold from $145 to $280/head. Ram lambs to processors sold from $100 to $152/head. Meat rams sold from $80 to $130/head.
