Cattle - 1115

Agents at Inverell penned 1,115 mixed quality cattle. All the regular buyers were present and operating on a generally dearer market for restocker yearlings,bullocks and cows and only heavy yearling steers and heifers to feed struggling to maintain last weeks dearer rates.  Light weight vealer steers to restockers sold to 472c/kg. Light weight vealer heifers to background made 322c to average 320c/kg. Yearling steers in the 200-280kg range to restockers made 458c to average 429c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market sold from 422c to 428c and averaged 399c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to background made 372c to average 360c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold from 368c to 380c/kg.  Bullocks to processors made 364c to average 346c/kg. Grown heifers to processors made 352c to average 316c/kg. Light weight plain conditioned cows to processors made 267c to average 257c up by 11c/kg. Good heavy score 3 and 4 cows to processors gained 15c selling to 295c and averaging from 273c to 285c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors made 297c to average 288c/kg.

The supply of stock at Inverell increased to 3,415 lambs and 1,276 grown sheep. All the regular buyers attended and competed strongly across all lines of lambs with prices firm compared to 2 weeks ago with the mutton lines selling to very spirited competition.  Light weight lambs to restockers sold from $90 to $102/head. Lambs over 18kg to processors sold from $132 to $155/head. Butcher weight lambs sold from $134 to $195/head. Lambs suited to the wholesale meat trade sold from $161 to $217/head. Heavy trade lambs sold from $196 to $281/head. Heavy lambs to processors sold from $237 to $284/head.  Hoggets to processors sold from $137 to $290/head. Merino ewes to processors sold from $128 to $182 with the crossbred lines at $182 to $251/head. Crossbred wethers to processors sold from $135 to $187 with merino wethers at $185 to $188/head. Rams to processors sold from $40 to $130/head.
