Market Report 8 September 2026
Cattle - 1023
Inverell numbers were static at 1023 very mixed cattle which featured quite a few plainer quality pens through the young cattle. Pens of well bred weaners held value but not the numbers of last sale. Cow numbers decreased considerably and various drafts of young weaners headed South to a Victorian backgrounder. Other background cattle to local and outside districts. All the regular operators competed. Weaner steers under 200kgs 426c to 656c/kg similar heifers 374c to 520c/kg. Light yearling steers to feed were dearer 520c to 538c/kg conversely backgrounders 19c/kg cheaper 350c to 600c/kg. Medium feeders down 6c/kg backgrounders lost 14c/kg 300c to 598c/kg with lesser quality showing through. Light heifers to feed gained 8c/kg 430c to 540c/kg similar background heifers back 27c/kg 380c to 508c/kg. Medium feeders considerably cheaper 434c to 518c/kg. Feeders to 480kgs significantly cheaper 440c to 480c/kg. Grown heifers to feed gained 17c/kg 410 to 502c/kg and processor heifers lifted 9c/kg 420c to 440c/kg.
