Cattle - 1055

 There was a big drop in numbers with 1,055 head yarded which was down by 815 head.  The most noticeable reduction was in the cow yarding.  The yarding of young cattle consisted mainly of yearlings, however there was several pens of weaners through the sale, and there as also a fair penning of yearling heifers. Quality was very mixed with some lines of well bred cattle offered, however there was a fair number of plain cattle through the sale.  Overall the market was cheaper with the exception of an odd pen of well bred cattle.  Restocker weaner steers sold to a top of 437c, while light background yearling steers reached a top price of 448c/kg.  Feeder steers were firm to slightly easier  with medium weights selling from 350c to 428c and heavy feeder steers ranged from 350c to 408c/kg.  Feeder heifers were down by 10c to 20c some sales more selling from 306c to 348c/kg.  There was only an odd grown steer offered that sold to 320c, while grown heifers were 20c cheaper ranging from 240c to 306c/kg.  The mixed line up of cows were 20c cheaper with 3 score medium weights averaging 239c and 4 score cows sold from 240c to 270c/kg.
